Bob Preedy

After leaving school Bob's first job was as a trainee cameraman on 'Top Of The Pops'. Eager to widen his experience he had secondments to Radio 3 then BBC Radio London, where he produced Tony Blackburn's Saturday show.

Back in the TV world he worked for 6 months on the 'Old Grey Whistle Test'. Then realising he'd never be able to buy a house in the capital, he headed north to Leeds and Yorkshire Television - first as a camera and sound engineer - then progressing to the Presentation department. Here he wrote continuity scripts and produced ITV trailers. 6 months was then spent as a researcher on the TV show, 'Pop Quest'.

Returning to Presentation, he was asked to cover some continuity announcing shifts, which led to a permanent position for 13 years. He also worked at numerous local BBC and commercial radio stations and found time to write 27 books on subjects ranging from northern pirate radio stations and Roller Coasters - his last book was the first ever history of Battersea Fun Fair.

With a passion for films as well, he fitted in running two full time cinemas. Now in Eastbourne, he enjoys a daily dip in the sea, and learning about the history of the town.

Bob is on-air each Sunday afterrnoon from 2pm.
