VE Day 80

Thursday 8 May 2025 marks 80 years since VE (Victory in Europe) Day, when the Second World War came to an end in Europe.

On air during the day we will be giving our listeners details of local events so you can take part.

Flags will be raised and town criers will read the the VE Day 80 Proclamation. Pipers will play 'Celebratum' from the top of the UK’s four highest Peaks. Cathedral and church bells will be rung. In the evening Beacons & Lamp Lights of Peace will be lit around the country.
